The North Place

Mae Sai is a municipality located in the northernmost part of Thailand and part of Chiang Rai province. As we went around, we see that this town is a first class municipality with many banks, restaurants, grocery stores and tourist destinations. Part of the town is hilly and mountainous, the rest is plain where farmers plant rice, corn, vegetables and strawberries. The temperature here is cooler compare to most part of the country especially during winter season (without snow) or Christmas time. Right now the temperature is hotter especially during daytime. On the hilly portion of the town, we saw plantations of lychees and small oranges (actually lychee trees are everywhere).

We learned that Mae Sai is not only a home for Thai people but shares it with Chinese and Burmese. The main religion of the people is of course Buddhism. Everywhere you go you will see symbols of Buddhism. There is a small percentage of Christian and Islam in Mae Sai.

To Serve the Lord in Mae Sai and Tachileik

We have at least two areas to serve this summer. One is Mae Sai in the northernmost part of Thailand and the other one is Tachileik in Union of Myanmar. Tachileik is probably just few hours of travel across the border of Thailand. In Mae Sai, we will serve in an orphanage  run by a Filipino missionary.

Greetings from Baguio!

Hello! this is our new blogspot where we will post our updates to you.
We are now on short vacation and so we have enough time to do our update and prayer request. As we write this, we think of you with grateful hearts because of God's unending faithfulness to us all who love Him. We thank and praise Him for the recently concluded school year. Many students said (including us!) that it was only by the grace of God that we have finished all our seminary requirements and many other obligations. Yes, it was indeed by his grace that we made it through the year. Thank you for all your prayers, encouragements and support to us!

This is our schedule for the coming weeks:
  • March 18 |  Speaking engagement | Cross Partners Baptist Church, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.
  • March 19-31 | Pre-Field Training for Short-Term Missionaries (those who will go to Asia this summer), Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary, Baguio City
  • March 25 |  Speaking engagement | Faith Community Church, La Trinidad, Benguet.
  • March 28 | We will teach on Spiritual Discipline during the Pre-Field Training.
  • April 2 | Departure for Bangkok, Thailand
Prayer Request:
  • Please pray for wisdom and strength as we prepare to leave for two months of ministry in Thailand.
  • Please pray for our two months provision in Thailand. Our budget may rise to about $1,000.
  • Please also pray for opportunities to share the good news to Thai people and that God will show us a place for long term ministry in Thailand.
